Preview: Beginner Hiking Series

The most overlooked and neglected aspect of preparedness is physical fitness. In some cases, there may be a time when you cannot depend on a vehicle to get out of dodge. A prime example would be in the event of an EMP. You can forget about driving your new car or truck. Even though we have had a mild winter; warm weather is right around the corner. So I wanted to do something that would not only had a health benefit, but provide some experience any prepper should have. So we will be hiking.

I plan on writing a series on beginning hiking for the prepper. You will have the opportunity to read reviews on gear you can use, places to go, and tips to have a great time. The unique aspect of this series is that not only is it about beginner hiking, it will be written by a beginner hiker. That’s right, me. I have not hiked recreationally so this is all new to me. I look forward to sharing my experiences with our readers.

My main goal is to provide you with the information you need to go out and hit the trails with your friends and family. While keeping in mind this may be something you might have to do in a SHTF situation, at least you will have some experience. You can also count on some pretty cool pictures from the trails. The two pictures posted on this article are from my recent trip to the trails. Stay tuned!

  1. I recently discovered hiking and it is great! It’s very relaxing but gives you a tough workout and is much much better than running on a treadmill. It has an added challenge of walking in uneven terrain so you need to have to proper gear. Hiking is a great way to see just what you’re made of and how far can you carry that backpack. Congrats on the post!

    • Thank you for your input. I completely agree and I see so many benefits to it. I will give you the best information I can and hope that this will encourage folks to get out there and hit the trails. 🙂
