Bugging-Out? Don’t forget your Repeater Directory

Unless you plan to truck around some serious communications equipment, power supply and antennas when you Bug Out, if you are like me, you’ll likely only be carrying a small portable handheld Amateur transceiver which rely heavily on repeaters for extended range.

For your local area you’ll likely have pre-programed many repeater frequencies into your handheld; but if you find yourself outside of your standard area of operations, you’ll likely need some help in finding which repeaters are used in the new area and for what purpose.

Wasting time scanning frequencies blind is a good way to use up your battery, so having a guide to get you in contact with help faster is invaluable. For this reason, having a Repeater Directory with you is essential.
